Rewrite Chapter Five NowLonely became my nightly word.   
After I got home, the lights were out.  Alex wanted to go in to check, but I told him elsewise.  I tripped over the umbrella stand in the hallway and cursed all the way to the kitchen, where I turned a light on.  On the table were a plate of cheese sticks and a note from dad.  I read it aloud:   
Kat-  Going to visit mom in San Fran for a few days. Took Mike with. Be back soon.   
Didn't even sign his name.  Bastard.  I sit down, tears in my eyes.  It's quiet and I don't like it.  My baby brother Rewrite Chapter Five Now

Fruits of LifeFruits of Life   
You see them  Everyday  On the streets  In the park  Quiet, odd  you notice  them for once   
How long have  they been there  you wonder  to yourself  yesterday  It seemed they  were but a  myth to me   
Ah, but when  your weary  heart opens  to the great  fruitful world  Night and day  aren't apart  just oddly  Together   
Hearts open  to all souls  and all loves  The best friends  already  understood  It's odd, really.

Rewrite Chapter Four NowThe car's really quiet, albeit the engine and the radio playing music.  Alex hasn't spoken a single word to me since we left.  His face is pale, his gold eyes dark, and his slouched body over the steering wheel makes my heart hurt.   
I try to talk.  "Alex--"   
"I don't want to make you my Mate!"   
I suddenly find myself wanting to strangle him.  WHAT?  That wasn't right!   
"Alex," I mutter, "what are you talking about?"   
Alex suddenly stops the car on the country road ditch.  He's quiet, then starts to talk.
